MehalaH RAY

Rachel Clark, who performs under the name Mehalah Ray, is a 23 year old, British singer songwriter and musician from Cambridge. She started performing at the age of 14 in and around her hometown, gaining herself a prominent place in the local music scene. Frequently likened to artists such as Billie Marten and Julia Jacklin, Mehalah Ray’s songs deliver forthright, coming of age messages fulfilled in a frank, understated and honest tone. Her meditative yet enchanting vocals lure you into a state of reflection allowing you a profound moment of peace while you get lost in her story telling and ear worm melodies.

Refining her folk-pop sound after a couple of prior releases, Mehalah has spent the past year absorbing herself within her writing. She took a step back from performing in order to get to the heart of her own music, paying careful attention to her natural self and authentic songwriting.

“I often write subconsciously, especially when it comes to lyrics. I never start writing a with a specific topic in mind and it always surprises me what comes out. I love the way I don't realise my feelings or what’s going on inside my brain until I’ve sat down with my guitar. It’s very freeing.”
