I was invited to be part of the young Q&A panel led by Michelle Brace, we were asked about our experiences in writing songs and getting gigs. One of my local Cambridge music buddies Lewis Hall from The Staycations was also on the panel; it was really great to talk to a very receptive audience.
Phil Pethybridge of yourmusicbusiness and The Living Room talked about his excellent work with Secret Garden Party and Cambridge Folk Festival, and gave some great music industry business tips.
Local legend Boo Hewerdine gave us some really insightful songwriting advice on lyrics and melodies, and played us his Eddie Reader top 40 hit ‘Patience of Angels’ which was nominated for an Ivor Novello Award in 1995.
Cambridge 105 music promoters and local mentors Tim Willett and Les Ray also gave great advice and talked about their involvement in the Cambridge music scene.
